Tradition
We have been building original
bent stave barrel saunas longer than anyone in the business. Our
barrels have been coped but never duplicated. We live up to the
name of Superior Cooperage. We are a family business that is
based on quality instead of quantity. We focus all of our energy
on one product to bring you the best. Our saunas are handmade of
northern white cedar to provide you and your family with a
lifetime of relaxation and health benefits. |
Future heirloom, your
connection to the past...
We have been able to continue the
almost lost art of COOPERING (barrel making) and applied it to
the age old mind and body cleansing tradition of a sauna. The
relationship of barrels and water make good companions, it is an
ageless marriage. The cedar staves are steamed, hand milled with
an arc and bevel and held together with iron hoops that are hand
swedged or cured to a slightly curved shape, no nails or glue is
used. From the inside it is a place of peace, relaxation and
spiritual enrichment. The white cedar gives them that distinct
sauna scent. Unlike traditional square saunas, our unique barrel
shape allows condensation to run down the walls and drain,
making it easy to keep clean. Two benches are built in, so they
can seat six to eight people. Each sauna holds an electric, gas
or wood stove to provide sauna heat and the rolling waves of
steam when water is splashed over the rocks.
